Mobile buoy systems permit long term collection of marine data for commercial, academic and military applications. These dynamically positioned crafts can loiter within meters of a given location and either deploy sensors or act as a communications gateway for other sensors in the water column. Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion, mobile buoys can remain on-station for more than a month at a time and can be automatically repositioned as necessary. Deployment and retrieval is accomplished quickly and safely with commonly available deck equipment. Proprietary control software allows fully autonomous, semi-autonomous and directed modes of operation. Multiple buoys can be coordinated to establish geographically dispersed marine data sampling networks, all controlled from a single workstation. |
